She's so precious, the angels could scoop her up.
It seems, though, that the rocks were done too quickly. Thank you for showing us your beautiful work.

Yes, too quickly. I am a hurried man. I really need to slow down, they tell me. I think I will go over the whole hurried background. I will post the finished work in a few days. Great comment! I really treasure critiques here by all of my new-found masters, and really should have put this there.

A young goddess! May I join the choir of those inspired by this forum?

There is so much I love about this painting, I think you should sign it!

Comments for future reference might be:

- Plan an area in the background that are of same value as figure to allow for some lost edges here and there. She now stands out in lighter value, almost equally, all around.

- Children skin tones tend to be cooler, more transparent than adults. I love the warmth here, but see some struggle going on which may be resolved with temperature choices.

- The likeness works for me! What you may have done is slightly downplayed the proportionate size of her forehead. The lively spirit of your charming subject seems infinitely more important and beautifully rendered.

Time for me to stretch my first linen! Thank you for sharing!

I'm not a master but sometimes I take too much time going over the same spot trying to make it perfect. Maybe someday I'll succeed. Who's to say what makes an accomplished portrait artist? :)
