Carlos, this is beautifully structured and executed. I too find narrative paintings enthralling. Now if I could only find out what these two girls find so fascinating below the line of sight allowed by the picture....

Thanks Tom and Richard for your comments.

I have no idea. Maybe they fell asleep. ;)

Nice work, Carlos. (The light on the wall behind the two figures is quite exquisite.)

Carlos, I am the last one to join in to praise the balance and elegance of the composition and of the subdued tones.
I find that the negative space is especially beautiful and you have really managed to paint the air around the girls.
A very nice work indeed
Ilaria

Thomasin, thanks for taking the time to view and comment. Very much appreciated.
Ilaria, thank you also for your words. That "negative space" was quite a headache for a while. I wanted an illusion of space without it being overly distracting. The wall was also initially a yellowish-greenish colour--I was going for a split complementary harmony of red/yellow green/blue green, but the wall was too warm and it actually hurt my eye, so I painted over. In the end, I think the warm undertone of the wall helped the overall light that Thomasin mentioned and "air" that you speak about.

Thanks again.

Beautiful elegant piece Carlos!
I also love the quality of the light, and how you managed to control this very challenging composition.
Congratulations!

I really enjoy your work, Carlos, and I love the quiet beauty and atmosphere in this well-constructed painting. These girls are lovely models - you paint women very well, I think.

Carlos,

This is lovely! I can't believe both individuals are the same model.

Garth

Linda,
I appreciate your comment very much, coming from a woman AND a painter. Thanks for your kind words.

Garth,
Thank you again.
