Dear Sharon,

This is Beautiful! How big is this pastel? Ilove your use of light and the understated William Morris wallpaper pattern background.

Congratulations.

Denise Hall 04-22-2004 11:22 PM

Well Sharon,

Since I missed this when you had it "up" you just have to repost it as soon as you can get the darn thing presentable - because I have been waiting to see your latest pastels!! Good to see you again here and I hope you and Marvin have fun at dinner next week at the convention. Wish I could be there!

Oh Sharon, this is just not fair. I'm really wanting to see this!

The fastest way to see this now is to visit her in Boston. She is hanging at the Copley Society on 158 Newbury St.

It has taken me longer to figure out how to get a good post, than to do the darn thing.

I will work on it this weekend.

Maybe the next best bet to see this thing is to wait for the coffee table book!

Thanks for your interest, I am really touched.

She was (ahem) a BIG hit in Boston. She is hanging on a far wall and you can see her all the way across the street. Another silly reason to consider working large.

Alicia Blue Redux!

Hi folks,

Alicia is finally making her appearance. I am a real computer Dodo bird! Thanks for your patience.

Allan Rahbek 04-25-2004 10:34 AM

I have been waiting for it.!

This is a very strong painting. I think that you have achieved your aims with this piece. I like it !!

Hey Sharon,

Congratulations!

Thats exactly what I thought it looked like (The corrections I tried on your first post are nearly identical to your new post)! Really nice pastel! I am glad it's back, and am looking forward to seeing it in person on Thursday.

This is so beautiful! I only wish I could see it in person, I'm sure the size really makes a statement! What was this done on ?

Chris Saper 04-25-2004 12:57 PM

Sharon,

What a spectacular piece! I love everything about it, not the least of which is your capacity to think, and act on such a scale.

Congratulations!

Marvin Mattelson 04-25-2004 02:06 PM

Wowie zowie!

Jane Bradley 04-25-2004 03:08 PM

I LOVE the way you use color. Beautiful!!

Too bad it is only up for one week, would have been a good excuse for a ten hour trip next weekend.

My favorite area is the bright red/orange sash(?) and the shadow/reflection it casts on the outfit. Very bold, it borders on the abstract.

Always looking foward to your next one.

Deladier Almeida 04-25-2004 04:04 PM

Sharon,

If it looks like this on line, this piece must have an overwhelming presence on a wall. Congratulations.

Will the hours of the gallery be compatible with the conference schedule so that we will have a chance to visit the show?

Sharon,

I think it would be great if you could post a picture of your painting as you described it above, from across the street, or, from across the room.

What a thrill it must be to see your work displayed like this.

Denise Hall 04-25-2004 06:53 PM

Sharon,

I second what Marvin, Jimmie and Deladier said. Seeing it in person, as all your other large pastels must be exhilirating. Since I love dance and costumes I know I would love to see this. Someday when I'm in your area I will call you (my brother works in Boston every month for about a week and I'm going to come stay with him to do the galleries during one of his trips). Maybe you can point me to the nearest one then?

The wallpaper is nicely done but the hair and sash are just perfect - that orange punch. You need to feel very good about this!

Sincerely,

Denise

This is worth the wait (posting delay)! I'd love to see it in person, I like being overwhelmed.

This must be spectacular to see in person. This piece really showcases your affinity for the color schemes and pattern of Eastern art.

Kimberly Dow 04-27-2004 09:23 AM

This is so impressive. I too wish I could see it in person!

Heidi Maiers 04-29-2004 03:54 PM

Sharon,
Speaking of exquisite, both this piece and "Dakini" posted in this topic are exactly that. What a treat it would be to see them in person.
By the way, do you look as much in real life like Hillary Clinton as you do in your thumbnail image? ;)

Linda Brandon 04-29-2004 08:12 PM

Sharon, I just spotted this. Congratulations on a stunning painting! I hope that conference attendees will post some photos which include this, so we get an idea as to scale.

You are a source of inspiration to me, so please, keep it up.

Marvin Mattelson 05-02-2004 08:55 PM

I'm back. I survived the conference and returned in one piece. More amazingly, I survived the drive around Boston with you Sharon. We had a blast. Thanks for the great Day. BTW, I bought a copy of the Bosonians. Wow! Thanks.

Tom Edgerton 05-03-2004 10:10 AM

Marvin and Sharon--

Great seeing you at the conference, and Sharon, it was good to meet you finally face to face.

I got a brief look at the book over someone's shoulder there, but when I went to the museum and tried to find it, I couldn't. Can you post info--full title, author, etc.--so I can find it online?

Best as always--TE

Tom Edgerton 05-03-2004 11:35 AM

S--
Thanks for the info. Hope to see you again before long. Let me know if you head this direction.
