New additions to The Four Digit Club

Dear Chris Saper,

I would like to heartily congratulate you upon reaching 1000 views on your new member introduction earlier today. This elusive but well earned landmark level of viewership hits has been several years in the making. Let's celebrate!

The most viewed New Member Introductions

Sharon Knettell, our newly appointed Moderator at Large, is just around the corner as well at 994, but who knows what can happen by the end of the day!

Go Sharon, Go..... !

This would THRILL my dear departed mother.

As I was rather bookish child and preferred to play with paint rather than other children, my deperate mother bought a book called "How to be Popular". We had regular lesson sessions. It was so depressing, boring and eventually utterly futile!

Chris Saper 02-03-2005 01:23 PM

Oh, dear, well thanks, I think. I must go to my easel now, and do more brushstrokes than keystrokes.

Garth Herrick 07-01-2005 12:25 AM

How does one grow thicker skin?

Congratulations to October Reader, for amassing 1000 view hits in New Member Introductions more rapidly than anyone in the history of this Forum! Well done!

We should congratulate you Garth... you received above 2300 visits! You're the most popular guy here! Here in Brazil we use to say to such pop people - that when you were a baby, your mom ran out of powder and used sugar instead!

Elizabeth Schott 07-02-2005 12:08 AM

Garth I think I still hold the record for replies! ;)

So were you going to be a statistical analyst in a former life?

Garth Herrick 07-02-2005 12:19 AM

Beth,

Actually it is Mikael Melbye who is just about to eclipse me as the most replied to new member ever (I am stuck at 43 and currently Mikael has 42!). Go Mikael! It won't be long at all before he shatters all records of popularity.

Garth

Elizabeth Schott 07-02-2005 12:46 AM

HA! Garth you must not have checked mine! ;)

Garth Herrick 07-02-2005 01:28 AM

Then there are those of us who have no real life outside of cyberspace, as indicated by the high numbers under our names at the left. They indicate how many times they have ever posted on SOG. I think I'm still in the lead on that one -- a highly dubious honor!

Garth Herrick 07-19-2005 11:16 PM

No. 6

Dear Terri Ficenec,

Congratulations! You are the sixth one to surpass 1000 hits. Well deserved!

Garth

Terri Ficenec 07-20-2005 09:39 AM

thanks Garth :)

Wow Michele -- now that's impressive! -- (how do you find time to paint? ;) ). . . I hope you realize how appreciated you insights and contributions to this forum are. Thank you for being one of the people making this forum so worth-while!

Elizabeth Schott 07-20-2005 09:18 PM

Terri, I am so glad that Garth is so 4th coming and I must add since this reply is 4 you, that I am so excited 4 you too.

4 whatever it is worth. You are three numbers higher than 4th in my book!

4ever ;)
Beth

Garth,

You are a charming and elegant man.

Still, I hope never to get to the five digit club.

Love, Chris

Garth Herrick 08-28-2005 11:20 PM

Belated congratulations:

Congratulaions also to Dianne Gardner and Mikael Melbye for becoming the seventh and eighth folks to surpass 1,000 hits with their ever popular new member introductions this past week, or so. May I add a belated welcome to you both as well.

Perhaps we need to aim for a new target of 3,000 or so hits. No one is near there yet! :D

Garth

Elizabeth Schott 08-30-2005 09:35 PM

I just can answer that one Garth... dang!

Garth Herrick 12-24-2005 12:26 PM

Yikes, even this thread has reached four digits!

In an ironic twist, and just in time for Christmas, I found this thread at 1001 views this morning, and so I'm acknowledging that for some absurdly wondrous reason this thread has become more popular than it was ever imagined to become. This thread was merely intended to congratulate individual members whose introductions reached the milestone of 1000 hits or more, but not to be found in a self congratulatory position! :o

But the good news is this reflects that more people are reading and contributing to member introductions, and quite a number of new members have effectively introduced themselves and reached a respectable level of visibility here, in a relatively short period of time. This forum section is expanding at an healthy pace, as evidenced by all the increases in hits. :)

Okay, Karen McPherson, you are just on the cusp of clocking in at number ten (of those who have reached 1000), at 997 views this morning. Congratulations!

Keep introducing yourselves. Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanzaa, a Happy New Year, and a healthy, prosperous and productive year of great portraiture and art in 2006!

Speaking of Olympics, we have a real phenomenon happening in New Member Introductions that has never been seen before:

I think Molly Williams got herself comfortably into the Four Digit Club in faster time than anyone who had preceded her (Kudos Molly! Completey deserved response!), but now.......

She and everyone else to this point have been completely blown aside by Joy Thomas's record shattering introduction. Joy has entered the Four Digit Club in LESS THAN NINE DAYS!! Amazing! Furthermore Joy has pulverized the previous reply record by more than 17 extra replies, thus far. That's sixty replies! We have never witnessed such celebrity popularity here with anyone else. Joy has earned every inch of her phenomenal popularity and responses. Way to go Joy!

So again, hearty successive congratulations to both Molly and Joy for each raising the bar with their talents and earned popularity.

Garth

Sharon Knettell 02-14-2006 08:26 PM

Sic transit gloria!

Oh faded glory!
Oh pinnacle of shame!
My fifteen minutes of treasured fame
is now but an 'ibid' in history.

Joy Thomas 02-14-2006 08:51 PM

There she is...

Garth

"Oh my goodness!" she exclaimed as tears of happiness streamed down her flushed cheeks, "This is certainly the happiest day of my week... what a wonderful Valentine's surprise!" And then, mascara streaming as she laughed and cried, she accepted the kudos from Garth, Master of Ceremonies.

She completed the winner's walk while blowing kisses and waving to the crowd. They could only read her lips as she said "I love you all! Thank you all!" over and over again.

LOL! Joy, you're a fabulous painter and a real crack up too!

Alexandra Tyng 02-14-2006 10:44 PM

Congrats, Joy! To quote Bonfim, it "has been one of the most curious introductory threads" we have seen. And entertaiing, funny, poignant, revealing, informative, and more.

Cynthia Daniel 02-15-2006 12:58 AM

SEE! They like you Joy, they really like you!

(For those who don't know - these are a takeoff on Sally Field's famous words upon winning an Oscar).

Joy Thomas 02-15-2006 01:22 AM

....first, I want to thank my web master and favorite Valentine, Cynthia...I wouldn't be here today with you!!!
