"Lovely model, elegant woman."

Indeed, Chris. This woman appears to have this awesome pure soul. She is absolutely radiating with an honest beauty that's captivating.

And once again, your palette just makes this portrait vibrate.

Chris,

I loved the shawl as a beautiful counterpoint to her caramel skin. Just lovely.

Jimmie Arroyo 02-19-2005 10:15 AM

The shadows on her face are stunning. I, along with others, would love a closeup of the face and shawl (around the elbow area) please.

Garth Herrick 02-19-2005 12:57 PM

Chris,

This is truly lovely and elegant. I love the color harmonies.

Yet another lovely piece. I always know I'll see a winner when you post, Chris.

Elizabeth Schott 02-19-2005 10:54 PM

Chris your oils have just come full circle - I didn't think anything would compare to your pastels, but now I see why Bill Whitaker calls you his "teacher's pet". I love it!

Allan Rahbek 02-20-2005 07:53 AM

Chris, thank you for showing. It

Such a satisfying piece to just sit and look at for a while. I'm loving the warm transitional areas in the face. It's really interesting how this resonates with a similar palette in the shawl pattern.

You've just gotta enter this one in some juried events, it's just so pleasing to the eye. Fantastic, Chris!

Terri Ficenec 02-20-2005 05:44 PM

Beautiful Chris!
(and please post some closeups so we can see all that beautiful color! :sunnysmil )

You are all so very sweet, thanks!

Here are some close-ups - I don't know if this the elbow you referred to, Jimmie - the shawl is really pretty loose.

In the face detail, that luscious red in the lower lip is www.studioproducts.com Pyrrolo Red ( $42/tube, and worth every penny) I am VERY stingy with this paint, and pull it out for special occasions, like moiuths.

Scott, Yes the shawl - it's actually a piece of fabric that I bought in both white and brown, and I used the brown piece, of course to wrap Alexandra..

Janel Maples 02-20-2005 06:56 PM

This is beautiful, Chris.

Another one I will be coming back to often.

Jean Kelly 02-21-2005 02:16 AM

The first time I saw this my mind added details, long silky fringe on the shawl, her other hand, and the dress underneath. It doesn't need these, I just find it funny that I can see a whole story; there is such mystery here.

YEA, Chris! And now I get to name drop all over Phoenix again...about how I have studied with such famous artists as Chris Saper, Linda Brandon and Bill Whitaker. Now, all I have to do is produce work that makes you proud. (Oh, THAT'S ALL!) Just looking at your painting is a learning experience.
