Hi,
I am pleased to say that I have had a fantastic weekend, opening an exhibition in the company of two good friends, Sys Ehlers and Mikael Melbye.

Sys is an old friend and the basket maker that I painted for the exhibition.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mikael for the first time ever, on the very day that we would arrange the exhibition.
He is such a fun and pleasant person and we all had lots of good laughs.

I will attach some pictures from the weekend.:

Egon is a real joker,
so I had to take him :santa:
Mikael had to wave goodbye to one of his Rome paintings.
Andreas and his mother.

Allan,

How wonderful! Great to see your wonderful work on a wall where many people can appreciate it!

Love to see your subjects enjoying it too.

You all look so cheerful! Is this the same country that the book "Smilla's Sense of Snow " was about? You would never know!

Claudemir Bonfim 04-03-2006 07:15 AM

Hi Allan,

Great news buddy! Congrats on that!

Alexandra Tyng 04-03-2006 07:53 AM

Allan,

From the pictures it looks like you had a great time. I love seeing photos of the people you've painted, and of Mikael. Do you have any more of the work itself as it looked hanging in the space?

Congratulations on the show!

Alex

I keep coming back to this post to see these happy faces, Allen! I'm delighted that this has gone so well for you. Congratulations on your very well-earned success!

Thank you all for the good spirit.
This exhibition does mean a lot to me and to the others as well I guess. The museum have a serious tradition and is well known in the country as a cultural center for both pictorial art and classic music, so I was very humbled that I was invited to exhibit. I guess that the fun we had on the arranging day was mostly a sort of gallows humor, but non the less it was a euphoric day for all of us.
Sharon,
Denmark is a small country, so we have to do chocking things to be heard. But sometimes the world pay too much attention to some of them. Actually we have all sorts of opinions around here and fortunately we don

Sys also made a sale on the opening day.
And a few pics from my room.

Allan, many congratulations, this is a small community and it is a pity that in fact we are phisically so distant and cannot come and cheer for you as you deserve!

Thank you Ilaria,

I think that, in fact ,we are closer than we could ever hope to be, on the net.

Of cause it would be nice to meet in person and talk and see the the paintings. But I also like the fast communication on the net where you can talk to people all over the world.

You are also right that we are a small group and I pray that we will stay that way :sunnysmil

One last question, Allan!
When are you getting a website done with all your work displayed?!
Ilaria

Allan Rahbek 04-04-2006 04:39 PM

Soon..................
Before the fire I was almost ready to open it. But things got stuck and I had a second, third and fourth thought about the design and colours.
So if anyone would help with an opinion I could release it soon............
That

Hi Allan,

It looks like such a wonderful show and I am very happy for you!

Garth Herrick 04-04-2006 10:37 PM

Allan,

What a wonderful show you are having with Mikael and Sys! I LOVE your paintings, .....all of them! I'm sorry I can't be there to support you either (when will the Atlantic Ocean Tunnel be completed?). Anyway I appreciate the great design aesthetics that are evident in your neck of the woods, as seen in all your pictures. Again, a wonderful show!  It's great to see you and meet some of your friends and inspirations.

Allan,

Congratulations on what appears to be a very successful show. It all looks very impressive. The next time I am in Denmark I would love to stop by and see your refurbished studio - and meet you. I'm so glad you are a part of our small Forum community.

Allan, thanks for posting more photos. Your work looks so great hanging up. I just wish I could see it in person and really get up close. Maybe some day.. .

Tom Edgerton 04-05-2006 07:52 AM

Allan--

Great show and great art! Great faces, too. Wish I were there.

It just goes to show that artists are much the same everywhere. You would be at home here, and it looks like we would be at home there.

Congratulations on all your accomplishments.

Best--TE

Thank you all again.

If you start digging from one side Garth.........

I sure would be delighted to participate in your exhibitions because I think that there is a slightly different attitude to wards realistic portraits in the states than here in DK.

There are only a few other painters, that I know of, that paints traditional portraits at a decent level.

Mikael told me that one of them had a fine show in a gallery, but got a lousy critic telling that this was not real art.

But I really don

Allan,

Denmark is home to a vast number of first class paintings. I'm so happy to see you continue a great tradition.

I look forward to your website and I hope you move forward with it quickly. I look forward to downloading and sharing the pictures with my students.

I hope you post your paintings BIG - and with lots of close up details.

Thank you, Bill,

I always take your advises as best I can.

I will see if I can shoot my paintings in RAW format so that you can get decent study materials ;)

Now tell me, you were just kidding, right?

William Whitaker 04-06-2006 11:18 PM

Allan,

From what I can see, your works looks wonderful. You must be the only person in the entire nation of Denmark who is painting in a representational manner. I really look forward to seeing more.

I also hope the Art Police don't lock you up!

Thank you again, Bill,
your vote of confidence means a lot to me.
I will try to stay loose. ;)

Mischa,
Thanks, I will go on with the site. Have you made your own website ? Maybe I could mail you to hear your opinion of my design ?

Allan

Mischa Milosevic 04-07-2006 09:13 AM

Allan, I am no expert but I did design my website. Feel free to contact me by mail.

Bill,
I may not be totally alone here in Denmark after all.

This Australian painter unveiled his painting of our RH Princess Mary, the coming Queen of Denmark. She is born in Tasmania and is very beautiful and popular around here.

I saw the painting on television tonight - but it

Many congratulations, Allan. I so enjoy your work. It must really be something to see it all on display like that. Your recognition is well deserved.

For those, like myself, that would like to see more of Allan's work ...

Here is a collaboration ... a scene from the Florida coast.

Allan and I also share the same birthday! November 12, 1963, I think it is. I wish he would share some of his talent for painting.

Such lovely work from artists of your tender ages.

PS Thanks for sharing Raph Heiman's painting. What a knockout!
