Fast Forward Speed Painting Video to Market Portraits
I haven't been here in awhile, so I hope this is okay to share. For the last pet portrait I completed, I set up my Nikon D7000 and filmed, starting with the drawing already completed (monochrome underpainting) to the completed piece. My son helped me create a video from the footage (slightly more than 3 minutes), complete with a favorite Mozart song.
If you woud like to see the brief video, you can find it on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0niGTrvMNc I also filmed part of my last portrait commission (just delivered, a young woman) which I hope to post next as a speed painting demo. It was a fun project to make this video and I thought some of you might enjoy doing something similar as a way to market your work. |
Cool idea Laurel -- I love it!
For several years, I've included an on the easel section on my website that shows the progression of a recent work in a series of still photos. But the action that you've captured -- showing the paintbrush hit the canvas and setting it to music -- is much more fun and dynamic! I'll have to get out a video camera and see if I can figure out how to put something like that together -- Fun!! |
Loved it!
My husband and I have been needing to do this for 3 years now and for some reason just can't seem to take the time to figure it out... that was really fun, and people do LOVE to watch!

Nice! The music was a good choice, too.
How do you set up your camera? I'd be afraid my body would get in the way of the view. |
