A couple of watercolors

These two are from life. I attend open portrait studios regularly. There is a definite difference in the feel of the pieces, but the time limit adds energy. This is an older one. It took nearly the full three hours of open studio. It is 9x11 on Canson cold-pressed watercolor paper.

The one below is about 9x9 but done in an hour and a half.

These look real nice.

I recently had a little foray with w/c and have a much elevated opinion of the skill required to do this work.

I love the first painting. I like the colors, the composition, the sensitive rendering of her face, the softness of her skin and the facial expression.

The second one leaves me cold. To me it just strikes me as being very superficial. The colors are strong, and the lady looks insensitive. Maybe that is what you wanted to say about her. She doesn't seem to have any gentleness; she is very fashionable but shallow.
