Do you paint with your left or right hand?
I thought it would be interesting to see how members of this forum compare in left-handedness (right-brainedness) to the general population.
|
And while we are on the subject....
I would like to say "Thank God for Hands!"
What useful tools eh? :) |
I'm a righty, but I find that on some rare occasions only the left hand will do.

Poll
Left, my husband accuses me of being severely right-brained and incapable of logical thought. Well that's a no-brainer, right?

Right, but I smudge with my left, unless I'm holding my palette....
|
Right On!
I paint with my right.
When I broke my arm in October of 2000, I worked with my left for several months. Some interesting results came out that were not all throw-aways. A different me came through. |
Bats left
...throws right. I can still switch hit. If I use my left hand to paint they call it impressionism or bad drawing or modern expressive painting.
|
Look Ma, no hands!
I believe the object is to paint with your brain. Your hand merely holds the brush.

Amen to Marvin's post.
If any evidence of insight or mechanical advantage might exist based on the inclination or preference for using the right or left hand doesn't really matter much. Without contrary evidence would anyone really want to switch hands? And why suggest that bad drawing, impressionism, bad drawing, or expressive painting be associated with left handed preference? I have no idea why I am mechanically right handed but it would take no more than a day or two to switch if somebody had any good evidence to do so. As Marvin suggested, it's got to do more with what's between the ears |
Where is it?
Jim, I think the exact location of my brain may have been the subject of discussion on at least one other thread!
