Girl with Rose

It would be great to get some feedback on this as reference for a proposed portrait. Thanks. Just had the chamise custom made, couldn't find one even on the internet like I wanted. The background is added...from Houmas House plantation near New Orleans which is a wonderful place to visit .

Hi Bob,
I like the composition and the color scheme, but I don't like the upper sleeve puff on our right. It looks like part of her breast. I would reshoot this from another angle to clarify her shape. |
Bob,
It is really a nice shot and the color is lovely. I am glad Linda noticed that, and I was trying to figure a way out of it using this photo, ie. moving the rose etc.. But I came to the same conclusion, a reshoot. One of the most important things about figuratives is that they read easily.. |
Reshoot soon
Thanks for the comments. Think you guys are right. And this time I'll remember to use the reflector to fill the shadows a little.

I like everything about it except the orange skintones. The blouse doesn't bother me, the strong shadows don't bother me. The too-warm color scheme does. It needs some cools to relieve all that orange, I think, especially in the skintones.

Revisiting
Bob,
I have looked at this repeatedly. I hate to disagree with both Linda and Michele as they post thoughtful, relevant and useful comments. Leave it as it is. The shadows are well designed and not too dark. The skin-tone does nor bother me and it rather reminds me of the candlelit luminescence of some of Georges de la Tours' work. There is a teeny -tiny shadow close to the stem of the rose and above the hand that could be strengthened a bit to emphasize the separation of the bosom area from the sleeve. My first impression of it was that it had a beautiful, peaceful and luminescent quality and color. I will take my spoon out of the soup . |
