Linda,

Wonderful pieces. I am so taken with the overall size (seems much smaller than usual for you?), and the resulting freshness, without losing accuracy.

Thanks Chris -

I so enjoyed working smaller, and it was fun to have a client who wanted less detail. As I get more comfortable painting in general, I am having fun exploring techniques and ideas but in subtle journey. I hope to get time this spring to paint for myself and do paintings that work harder at having fresh strokes.

Linda,

How nice to have that kind of client! I'm so impressed with the way you capture the colors and textures of nature, and the color transitions and skin tones of the children. Thanks for posting the close-ups because it's a real treat to see your brushwork and variety of colors in a small area.

It seems to me your in love with impressionism. These ones and the ones you posted are very beautiful and I liked the way they were done!

Thanks Alexandra ! Yes Claude! I am trying to blend Norman Rockwell and Mary Cassatt ideologically and stylistically . I think also that impressionism lends itself in style to themes which celebrate everyday life. It got nobility in it's simplicity and frankness of technique, which complements the same in the subject matter.

Lovely, Linda. Actually, the girl reminds me of Benson's painting. I believe this is of his daughter.

Cynthia you win the prize - that is exactly the painting I used to describe to the client the goal of the painting, and the one I used as guide when painting - see in particular the similarities on how he shapes the dress with the clouds.

I was thinking of that same painting too, as soon as I saw yours. And there's a Monet that comes to mind also. Lovely work!
