Museum recommendations

Any recommendations on museums to visit for good examples of portraiture? I live in Iowa and would like to visit a museum or two, although at this point in my life I can't afford to travel far. I would especially like to see some of Bouguereau's work in person. The internet is a wonderful thing, but I know it can't convey the exact colors and details that seeing paintings in real life would.

Well, we have a Sargent and a Rembrandt at the Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City. The rest of the collection is nice, too, but I can't think of anything else that is specifically portraiture right off the top of my head.

It looks like Chicago is pretty close to you; maybe you would have better luck there.

If you're in Coralville you're closer to Chicago and the Art Institute than to the Nelson-Atkins in KC. There are any number of wonderful portraits in the Chicago museum. Check it out online.
