Brush re-recomendation
 

I just got off the phone with Trekell brushes and Googled

Pick me! Unfortunately, it seems like all the brush handles in the world are made by one guy . . . who has determined "standard lengths" and won't budge. I placed a custom order with Trekell a couple of years ago, and pleaded at length for longer handles . . . they couldn't oblige me at that time.

Chris, I can only agree with your brush review. I am a little curious as to which W&N series has a new handle design . . . I hope it's not one of those "comfort grip" things with a ridiculous wad of silicone rubber just up from the ferrule . . . where the ignorant can "monkey grip" the brush at a place where it should never be held? (what's up with that?)

Incidentally, most "brands" marketing brushes (including Blick, W&N and several others) are no longer involved in the manufacture of brushes, but buy where price is most attractive, and the mfgrs. provide handle color and imprint to their specs.

With the surrender of sign, display, stage-craft and other trades to the computer and other new technologies, it's becoming more and more difficult to get really, really good brushes. Amateurs and crafty folk don't want to pay for premium brushes, and in the main don't know the difference anyway.

I've certainly found Trekell to be the best bang for the buck in today's market.

Richard, the woman I spoke with at Trekell said the owner was thinking of adding additional oil brushes to their selection. If you call again with your thoughts on longer handles we might just get the perfect brush. I would also be willing to go in with you (and others) on a custom batch of 11

Utrect interlocked bristle w/ brown handle are a great deal too. Although they are not all created equal, it may be worth returning the occasional brush given the price. There is a retail store in Tempe so I hand pick mine. I have only bought the filbert shape and find them about equal to Robert Simmons but with about an inch longer handle.
