These are great, Joe! Your brushstrokes are very expressive and descriptive. Beautiful color and modeling of the forms. I like the little touches where you "dug out" the extra dark shadows with a stroke or two.

I agree with Alex! Your work is fresh and has a lovely, loose feel with harmonious color.

Very nice compositions as well, something that people often forget to think about in open studio!

Very nice. I especially love the colors and textures in no. 1. The shift of color from forehead to cheeks is great. Thanks for sharing them with us!

I especially like the light in the second one, and as Julie already mentioned, the textures of the first one.

Thanks everyone. Funny thing about the first one, when I was finished at the end of the session. I didn't like it so I ended up scraping it with a palette knife. Then things seemed to fall together. It reminds me of a old photo or a ghost now.
