Yesterday we moved our model out in the garden, it was incredibly nice being outside (we have had such a bad weather recently) but we had to work fast as the stupid sun kept moving around the sky !

Ilaria,
your England Rose is so fair, it is clean and clear like an old Egyptian artwork.
Do you know the Danish painter, Edvard Weie? http://www.mik.dk/Din_guide/Fokus/St...unst_Weie.aspx

We had that same nice summer weather yesterday and I painted in my garden. I had no model so I portrayed an old rose instead.

I could not help but notice the similarity.
Is your pink made from Venitian Red and white, like mine?

Allan, in both there is the same relief after all those clouds , I absolutely love your flowers!
I (shhhht) added cadmiums back to my palette...

Beautiful work, Ilaria!
I had an involuntary reaction to squint when I saw this piece of yours.
I like the colours you employed for the skin and shadows very much. The expression on her face is lovely as well.
And Allan, your work is so enviable...makes me want to go out and do something outdoors as well. It has also been rainy here until yesterday.

I really like both of these. The blocking in of patches of color shows the speed of the work, and is a great way to start any portrait. :)

Ilaria, very beautiful, sculptural, and a beautiful design!

Your color choices strongly show the quality of the outdoor light!

Allan, those flowers compliment Illaria's lovely painting so well. Illaria, hint,hint... this might make a lovely new painting in these soft sun kissed tones.

Gorgeous! Extraordinary color! I can see how Ilaria's painting reminded you of yours, Allan. I like them both separately. The simply stated head and the simply stated rose bush are elegant. So often artists try to put too much together, i.e. a beautiful young girl with lush flowers in the background. These two show the strength of focusing on a single subject and finding beauty in it.
