Gabe the Warrior

My specialty is not saying "No." So I have a lot of mini portraits and with the summer frying my brain, pocketbook and energies, I realize that I have been doing so many animals that I don't have the opportunity to post many people.
This is an 8x10 oil for a grandmother of her son's boy. The trauma of split marriages and estranged families leaves me knowing almost too much about my sitters. At any rate, the Gram worships this young man as a fighter and warrior. She sent me a number of snapshots in his warrior garb and here is the final I just sent off. Quite a bit of rambling for such a tiny bit of wall.... |
Captured the look
Really cute, Debra! I love it. You really captured his attitude! :D

Debra
I just came across your posting and wanted to say that I think it turned out cute. It must have been fun to paint this little warrior! |
Thank you both.
It is hardest to work long distance. I had two little girls from Canada once and a dad who didn't know digital cameras. I spent as much time talking to him about their personalities as I did painting. To get the feeling of the kid from the reference provided is a challenge. I sort of like it. One of those challenges of making something from nothing, and I have a lot of experience elsewhere. They don't call me Dead Dog Debby for nothing! dj* |
