Here is a very useful and easy to follow book on the sight-size method:
Cast Drawing Using the Sight Size Approach by Darren Rousar. I highly recommend this book to anybody who is trying to learn this technique on his or her own, without the benefit of atelier training.
The author also has a
website and a DVD which demonstrates sight-sizing.
