Thx for your comments. Actually, his shoulders does not kiss the frame, but they're close. The liner took away more border space than I have expected. I strived for a tighter, more compact composition here, without too much space around the sitter. Prior to painting, I moved my drawing around, but it just did not look right when it was placed a couple of inches to the left. Besides, the balance was off. I posed the sitter this way because I wished to create strong diagonals in order to avoid static, stiff look. I hope I succeeded in balancing it with the contrived horizontals and verticals.

Fortunately, the golden fillet and the liner are close in value with the lighted side of the chair so I do not feel this is much of an issue.

(Btw, I made some adjustments during the painting process. The chair color was actually dark grey, much like the color of the sitter
