Hello from Louisville Kentucky

I'm really excited to be a part of this forum. My professional training is in scenic design for theatre. I stumbled into portraiture by doing a sketch of my niece a couple of years ago. I've been hooked ever since. I'm a long time pencil pusher (drawing) and about 5 months ago, decided to overcome my chromophobia and deal with pastels and oils.

I don't have any formal fine art training, so this forum is a god-send for me. I've been doing some commissioned portraits in pencil and pastel and currently am working on my first oil portrait commission. (I went to meet a woman about doing a pastel portrait for her and she asked if I could do it in oils. I said yes.)
So I am truly learning as I go. I'll probably have to post for help regarding this portrait very soon!
