The first time I saw this little girl she grabbed my attention. Parker just had a 'sparkle' about her that's hard to describe. The difficult part of the painting was not getting a likeness, but capturing her personality-- that was the tricky part!
I entered the painting in the 'Best of NC Artists' competition and won in the emerging artist category. It will be featured in a book coming out next Spring that will contain the winners of the NC competition. Parker's mom has already requested a copy of the book, and wants me to do a portrait of their other daughter, and one of both girls. I'm looking forward to working with them again because they are the kind of clients we all wish for!

Renee, this is really a lovely painting! The modelling of her face is just exquisite - it's perfect. I would so love to see this painting in person. You certainly are deserving of the award you got - I think you could easily win in any category with this exceptional painting. Congratulations!

Renee, I love the tilt of her head. She looks as though she is giving something a moment's consideration. You have captured something intangible and charming in this portrait. Congratulations for winning the Emerging Artists Prize! I can see why it caught the attention of the judges.

Thank you very much David! I wish you could see it in person, too. It's hard to see the transparency of the skin in a photo--lots of thin layers. I hate that the details in the dress are lost. Overall though, the picture is pretty accurate.
Alexandra, thank you, too! This little charmer is very photogenic, so it was really hard choosing a few pictures out of 5 rolls of film. This pose was my favorite because I caught her off guard as she glanced out the window.
Thanks again to both of you. Your comments mean a lot to me!
