New RTISTX panel

This morning in open studio I had the chance to try one of Kenneth Allen's new RTISTX panels. I really loved the surface - used the white #280 8x10 panel.

They are very rigid and lightweight, and feel quite a bit like the Wallis paper under the brush- a very fine gritty tooth. I liked the absorbancy and texture - they allow for a lot of variety. Next, I'll try the taupe color panel.

And here is where things ended up when we were out of time - also a detail to show some of the texture of the panel. You can see where a OMS-thinned wash bled almost like a watercolor, and the grit, as well as the brushier strokes.

Nice work, Chris. It looks, from your images, like you were using the oils in a watercolour kind of way with lots of washes that have the effect of running over the board like watercolour on paper (rather than soaking into the canvas, which has a different result).

Chris,
is the priming done with Acrylic Gesso? Is it thick ?
I also like the water color effect, fine for sketches and light work.
