Hi...I've been a member of this forum for quite some time, but have mainly lurked in the background and admired the work posted here. Finally, I have a couple of pieces I'd like to share.
This particular piece was done in oil on 16" x 12" canvas at a 3 hour session in the park where artists get a chance to paint, or draw, from life.
I didn't work on it after the session was over and was slapping paint around in a frenzy during the 3 hours there. I'm fairly happy with the results and think I caught the 'longing for home' feeling I wished to portray.
At any rate, I hope you enjoy looking at my attempts at being quicker and looser than I usually am.
Pat

Pat, grate job! Keep up the life drawings and paintings. If you do, as a result, be prepared for all the many compliments and commissions that will come your way .
Best wishes,
mischa

Lovely, fresh and loose. The face is lovely, but I especially like how you handled the hair.
Three hours? Impressive.

Pat,
I just finished writing about your drawing, and I have to say I like this composition just as much. You really have a talent for placing the figure within the given dimensions and creating some exciting positive/negative spaces.
This is so well done. I like everything--the face, the hair, the fabric on the shoulder--but I am especially fond of the energetic strokes in the straw hat.

Thank you for the kind remarks, Terri, Alexandra, Sharon and Mischa. I appreciate your time taken to look over my painting and share your thoughts!
Mischa, I hope that some commissions come my way before too long - that would be wonderful, wouldn't it?
Pat
