Chris your oils have just come full circle - I didn't think anything would compare to your pastels, but now I see why Bill Whitaker calls you his "teacher's pet". I love it!

Such a satisfying piece to just sit and look at for a while. I'm loving the warm transitional areas in the face. It's really interesting how this resonates with a similar palette in the shawl pattern.
You've just gotta enter this one in some juried events, it's just so pleasing to the eye. Fantastic, Chris!

You are all so very sweet, thanks!
Here are some close-ups - I don't know if this the elbow you referred to, Jimmie - the shawl is really pretty loose.
In the face detail, that luscious red in the lower lip is www.studioproducts.com Pyrrolo Red ( $42/tube, and worth every penny) I am VERY stingy with this paint, and pull it out for special occasions, like moiuths.
Scott, Yes the shawl - it's actually a piece of fabric that I bought in both white and brown, and I used the brown piece, of course to wrap Alexandra..

The first time I saw this my mind added details, long silky fringe on the shawl, her other hand, and the dress underneath. It doesn't need these, I just find it funny that I can see a whole story; there is such mystery here.

Chris--
Great physical weight and point of view. Definitely one of my faves of yours.
