Congratulations, Ilaria! This is a perfect example of the slightly edgy version of contemporary portraiture as I imagine it to be in Europe - painterly, very fresh color, an asymmetrical composition and with the subject looking off, rather than at the viewer. Very different from the more traditional stuff many of us do here in the US.

Thanks to everyone, the opening is next week and I just can't wait.
Michele, in fact this is a work painted for myself, I am not sure I would get away with it if it were a commission

Well, I just got the news that this painting has been sold.
I really didn't expect it, since the show is held mainly for the purpose of commissioning, but I am really glad anyway.
The buyer enjoys painting, has trained as a pastry chef and worked at a restaurant in Italy, I am happy that the painting goes to someone with which there is such a strong connection !
