Lacie,

Very, very, very nice. I admire your ability to create such a beautiful, intense and simple portrait. A real pleasure to view.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! It is so helpful to get encouragement from such talented people.

This painting is a companion piece to the 8x10 portrait "Melanie" and after comparing them side-by-side, I realized that I do paint differently now than I did then.

Thanks again, this was fun to paint.

Hi Lacey -

Can't add to what the others wrote, just that I really like this too.

Julie, Mary, Enzie, Janel, Luca, Chris and Linda thank you all for the kind words! You are all so encouraging.

This boy is always moving at the speed of light, and so I did a lot of planning in taking the photos. I did one round but found the light was too strong, so I came back for another quick shoot. I knew just where to have him stand and where to have him look and had my camera set up and ready to go.

I could see that it was taking all of his effort to remain still and calm for the minute it took to take the pictures. Then when I quietly said "OK, we are all set," he suddenly burst into animation running and yelling to his friend that he was on his way!

What can I tell you my little friend? Your paint is so much real.. It is a beautiful portrait. I like very much the expression and the light on the face. It seems to be that the child made some bad things..or I am in error?
Compliments..

Lacey,

Waht a wonderful piece! I love the expression and lighting, and the way you have managed the lost edges!

Lacey, this is a very nicely painted head, with great expression. I like the softness and the light fall-off, good job!
