Dear Thomasin,
Thank you! With the increase in exhibits and publications it seems that the interest in Orientalist art, after a very, very long slumber is finally reawakening. I think once people realize the genius behind some of these works, they will look at it from a different view point other than harem scenes and old men in turbans.
These paintings have so much they can teach us, but finding centralized access to technical information, comparisons and general insight are not that easy. I hope to change that by this little contribution!

Carlos, can you provide me with some text to go with the pictures you have sent me? I have so much going on, that it very slow progress translating the French text.
