Well, I would not recommend drawing on an easel. We paint on easels because of the size of the canvas. But drawing is executed more effectively and accurately on a table. I even use a 4 inch curb at the bottom of the table upon which I brace my arm. I have a second curb 4 or 5 inches from the bottom of the table to hold my pad, so that the pad is centered in front of me, not down too low on the table. My board is 45 degrees or so. This allows me to see over it to my model or subject which is directly in front of me. I find it easier to draw subjects directly in front of me, rather than off to the side, as required when drawing at an easel.
