Can someone critique this for me? I haven't had many critiques from people who know what they are talking about. Would appreciate any input.

Thanks,
Devin

Hi Devin, can you post a detail of the cat? The background is interesting. however the shade on the lamp to the right bothers me a bit? Tammy

OOPS! Forgot to add, great drawing in the background; I can't see the cat well enough to say anything.

Tammy,

I know this picture isn't the best I'll try to get a close up of the cat. For some reason the cat kind of whited out.

The angle of the lamp shade probably bothers you, right? It bothers me also.

I haven't been painting long, about 3 1/2 years,
so I'm still learning quite a bit. I'm thinking it is a little intense in color, should have toned down the red, what do you think?

Devin,

I think what Tammy may have meant is the angle of the lampshade. It looks as though it is tilted back. This would make the arc of light behind it much lower. I would also tone down the red, maybe with a few layers of glaze. The kitty is very well rendered. I get such a feeling of FUR. ;)
