Good resource
One of my favorite resources for photography is a site called PhotographyTips.com. It has ways of posing models, how to pose them, lighting, links to other resources, etc.
I was amazed at how much useful info it had. One of my favorites is A guide to posing female models. Scroll down to the bottom for the posing guide.
If you know of any other sites that are similar with a lot of reference photos, please share with me.

I haven't read any of the text, but just looking at the photos of the women shown, these seem more appropriate poses for photography glamour shots than portrait commissions.

Hi Jeremiah,
This section and the following links look more like what I think Cynthia has in mind:

Yeah, that portrait section is pretty good as well.
I like the female posing section because it's really good for figure study. Most live models cannot hold some of those poses for long. Those are the kinds of poses that help with foreshortening and general spontaneity in figure studies. However I do feel that a lot of the poses are not something that would be confined to glamor and can be used a lot in portrait work. Some of these poses are similar to the poses in William Whitaker's work. Example
I try to do portraits in a way that makes the subject look more relaxed and not so tense. Although this isn't apparent in all of my work, I try to achieve this anyway.
One thing in a lot of portrait art that I find is lacking is interesting poses. Most seem very rigid. Although, I don't speak of all portrait art, I do speak of a large number that I've studied.
I just figured I would share this resource as it's helped me a lot in photography and in portrait/figure art.

It looks like a worthwhile resource Jeremiah, and thank you for sharing it. I was only referring to that one page as not showing images that would be ideal for commissioned traditional portraiture.

Oh yeah. For traditional portraiture it's not ideal. I like the way new portraiture is being done though. It keeps with traditionalist ideas while still stepping the boundaries of new ideas.
By the way. I wanted to see if you had any artwork online. I looked on this website and couldn't find anything. Of course the link could be right there in front of my mouse and I wouldn't notice because I'm that spacey.

Jeremiah,
I assume you're referring to whether I have artwork online? Guess you don't know my history. I'm the owner of Stroke of Genius and a former manager of a very successful portrait artist.

Yeah, I knew you owned Stroke of Genius (mostly from the title over your picture). But I was wondering if you had your own art online. I looked through the site and I couldn't find any of your work. Maybe I'm just not seeing the link.

Cynthia's art..
Cynthia's art is in fact right under your mouse; her art is this site, this great resource of contemporary portrait artists and the enlightening Forum.

Thank you, Mari.
Jeremiah, I'm not a painter.
